GRAPIA – Regional Child Participation Advisory Group

GRAPIA currently consists of young people aged between 18 and 25, from different countries of the Americas, who serve for two-year terms, ad honorem. These advisers are young people who in their childhood and adolescence accumulated a great deal of experience in issues involving participation as a right, principle and process, taking part in various networks, advisory councils and participation groups in their countries of habitual residence.

Being an adviser to the Inter-American Children’s Institute implies continuing to promote and protect the rights of children and adolescents, no longer as actors, but as participation managers. The tasks of a consultant are manifold, and involve taking part in monthly meetings, reviewing the IIN’s working papers, writing articles and other working documents addressing the promotion and protection of child rights, developing audiovisual output on the occasion of “Americas Children and Youth Day” and on each anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, drafting annual regional reports containing reflections and recommendations to different duty-bearers, at national and regional levels.
